We held our AGM on Saturday, 26 April, and had a fantastic turnout. Our Greater London Assembly member Neil Garratt attended and updated us on his work holding the Mayor to account on policing, transport, and planning decisions.
We also heard from our local councillor Leila Ben-Hassel, who talked about her work with the council to improve our community, again focusing on policing, transport, and planning.
NVGRA's Deputy Chair Natalie Ballard also presented the latest on the Turle Road planning development application. She shared the concerns NVGRA has about aspects of the development, including parking, pressure on local schools and pressure on NHS services. We have raised concerns with the developers, Mayor Perry, and our local MP Steve Reed.
Following a public webinar on 19th November 2024 the owners of the site provided an update on the revised vision for the former Natwest sports ground, highlighting changes made over the last 18 months.
Overall feedback was that the revised designs were an improvement, but significant concerns remain, mainly around parking, traffic, and extra demands on the local area.
For those who could not attend, the webinar recording and presentation document are available to view here.
NVGRA will be listening out for the next steps and updating residents on how to submit their views as the process develops.
Norbury Library
The Council has proposed that Norbury library is one of nine in the borough that will move to be open a minimum of five days a week, including Saturday opening.
The new library service model is being delivered in a phased approach with new services and opening hours being introduced between November 2024 and April 2025.
Until the new opening hours start at Norbury, you can sign up for Open+.
How can I sign up for Open+?
Residents can Register for Open+ by upgrading their library cards (at the library) and getting a PIN number to access the building on the new days. 16-17 year olds will need a parent / guardian to sign their registration and 16 and under will need to be accompanied by an adult registered to the Self Service Opening.
How does it work?
You will use your PIN to access the building
A Council employee will be on site but all book borrowing and returns will be electronic (it's very easy!)
The Study Area and computers will be available.
The photocopier will be unavailable.
Get along to Norbury Library for further information and to sign up!
